Wham Bam Thank You Mam

The reviews of this book have been flogged to death and I am about to have a crack at it myself, but rather than give you a Wham Bam Thank You Mam, brief summary, I will pick on a chapter and debate, discuss on a regular basis as the book is worth it. If you cannot wait then here is an overview book summary of the main points from the 10x Rule

So let’s look at chapter one , What is The Ten X Rule?

A clue could be in the books title after the main title, the only difference between success and failure, the amount of action needed to achieve the successful outcome is often under estimated by people. People need to ten 10x the amount of effort in the actions needed to be successful, Grant suggests in his audio book, which unlike a print run of books, they can be changed and expanded at little cost, that the X in title could be a Roman numeral and thus rather than 10X it could be X equals ten in Roman numerals so it would be one hundred, times action to achieve your goal, one hundred in roman numerals is “C” the C rule does not sound as good as The Ten X Rule, does it?

Massive Action

Grant says the success he has achieved is not through some divine wishing for success, not through just doing just the minimum effort of what was needed to do a task. Not through having a sliver spoon trust fund, or some family connections but by putting in and doing more than was needed to succeed, if some else did something four times Grant would be doing it forty times, again and again Grants says YOU must put in Massive Action to achieve YOUR goal.

Grant points out that to achieve extraordinary levels your goal must also be extraordinary, you can not have a halfway house of settling for near enough is good enough it not, the old ways of thinking will not get you up to the next level of success.

Can Pigs Fly

There an old saying you cannot teach a pig to fly, if you are set in your ways and will not put in the effort , action persistence required then you will fail, but you will not learn from that failure, if you keep repeating the same mistake. Grant admits he did not set his goals high enough himself, only putting in ten X effort and energy to his goals, which should have been more Ten X more and limited his success.

Four Failures

Grant goes on to point out four failures, that most people end up doing, when trying to achieve their goals;

1: Set to low a target.

2: Not fully comprehending the amount resources that are needed to achieve the objective.

3: Wasting time trying to compete, when they should be dominating their markets in their sector.

4: Underestimating the amount of continuous adversity to overcome to succeed in the completion of that goal.

Grant says when people do not set ten X goals – and therefore fail to operate at ten X levels. So rather than reach for the sky, go for the moon, go for the sun, meaning do not set your target to low, if you don’t succeed in getting the sun, then at least you would got the moon as a result of your reach rather than the sky in attempting to achieve your target objective of the sun, which is better than reaching for the sky and get half way to that target or even not getting off the ground.

Sell Or Be Sold

Grant ends this chapter just like in his classic sales book “Sell or be Sold” (which in the UK you can buy here ) with a comprehension exercise, to see if you have understood the main points in the chapter. This is an excellent way of learning as the book is not a novel, it’s a tool to help you achieve success in business and in life at ten X levels.

To help lay down memories in your neural pathways and thus remember the information, recalling without looking in the book and writing it down on the page proved in the book is highly recommend method of learning by universities and learning courses.

I will return to more individual chapters of the 10x Rule however for those of you, who cannot wait, here is my complete book review or summary with additional bonus list of thirty two traits of 10x people by Grant Cardone.
